PreferNP is a growing healthcare management and services organization focused on expanding access to high-quality behavioral healthcare. We partner with nursing and residential care facilities to provide residents with consistent, compassionate mental health services.
We are currently seeking licensed mental health therapists to provide in-person psychotherapy at our partnered facilities in Rural Retreat and the surrounding communities .
About the Role
As a Mental Health Therapist, you will provide direct, in-person behavioral health services to residents in skilled nursing and residential care settings.
You will work closely with patients to build trusting therapeutic relationships, provide ongoing emotional and clinical support, and develop individualized treatment plans. You will also collaborate with our psychiatric providers and facility staff to ensure patients receive coordinated, comprehensive care.
This is an in-person, facility-based position and is not a telehealth role.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual psychotherapy to residents at partnered nursing and residential care facilities.
Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
Support patients experiencing conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, adjustment difficulties, grief, and cognitive-related concerns common among long-term care populations.
Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, and supportive therapy.
Collaborate with psychiatric providers, facility staff, and other healthcare professionals as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EHR.
Provide appropriate education and support to patients and families regarding mental health conditions and treatment.
Maintain professional and ethical standards and comply with HIPAA and applicable regulations.
What We're Looking For
Ideal candidates will have:
An active Virginia license as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or Licensed Psychologist .
At least 1 year of post-licensure clinical experience in behavioral health.
The ability and willingness to provide in-person care at facilities in Rural Retreat and surrounding communities.
Comfort working in facility-based environments, including skilled nursing, assisted living, residential care, or long-term care settings.
Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment-planning skills.
Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and trauma-informed care.
Experience using electronic health records (EHR).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients.
Experience working with older adults, geriatric populations, dementia, or long-term care residents is a plus.
Position & Compensation
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time

Schedule: Flexible
Compensation: Competitive; full-time providers may have the potential to earn $100,000+ annually , depending on caseload and overall engagement.
